Review: The Piano Man Project by Kat French

When Honeysuckle Jones, Honey to her friends, admits what she believes to be a small problem to her best friends, they come up with the perfect solution. A pianist. A pianist, with their dexterous hands is bound to solve Honey’s little never-had-an-orgasm-issue, what ensues is a series of increasingly absurd dates set up by her friends, all the while, Honey can’t help be drawn in by her grumpy, very rude and possible alcoholic neighbour.

I picked this book up on the off chance, I wanted something fun and funny that would be perfect to kick back and relax with. I am pleased to say that is exactly what I got, it was a great mixture of funny, touching and sweet. For those of us who love a grumpy hero, this is perfect, they don’t come much more ill-tempered than Hal.

Hal has recently become blind and because of this his career and his fiancee have abandoned him, his solution; whisky. I enjoyed reading Honey getting to know Hal, even if he wasn’t so keen, although he can’t help be drawn in by her and her, at times, odd and outlandish life. It was a bit of an emotional ride as the two of them slowly build a relationship.

Aside from the blooming, although slightly erratic and reluctant romance that was being built between Hal and Honey, there was also a side story involving Honey helping to save a residential home for the elderly with her team of eccentric residents and her best friends. This all added together to create a slightly off-beat, but fun romance with some charming characters.

A really enjoyable read, funny, sweet and charming, I will definitely read another Kat French book in the future.
