Baxter’s ] writing is eloquent and engaging and very much fitting to the genre.” ~ Under the Covers
Baxter revives the fiercest of the paranormal creatures with the THE LAST TRUE VAMPIRE. This book has all the components that I love about a great Paranormal Romance. It even reminds me of one of my most read novels of all time, Dark Lover by J.R. Ward. Michael Aristov is the last vampire in a dying breed. When a chance meeting ignites a mating bond of sorts, Michael wants nothing more than to complain his made. The only thing is Claire Thompson doesn’t know anything about the world. Or him.
Claire is a sweet loving girl. She kind of reminds me of Beth of Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series. While still fiercely independent, Claire also has this vulnerability to her that makes her relatable. And yet despite that, things turn hot in an instant whenever Michael and Claire are together. That’s what I love about Paranormal Romance; there’s this intensity and rawness to them that adds depth and darkness to the story. I think Baxter captured this well. Her writing is eloquent and engaging and very much fitting to the genre. I’m looking forward to see what she has planned next for the series.
