[THE IMPACT OF YOU] has presence, but the characters didn’t stick with me after that. ~ Under the Covers

THE IMPACT OF YOU is my first book my Kendall Ryan. I’ve been meaning to try her books out for awhile, but since I’ve been in a NA groove lately, I decided that her NA would be a good place to start. This book has all the elements that readers love in a NA Romance. A virgin heroine who has a desperate need to hide something from her past, a gay best friend, a hero who is a badboy/manslut and has his own personal problems at home.

I will admit, I really liked this book. I found Avery’s character to be soothing and sympathizing. Jase, on the other hand, took me a little while to like simply because he is portrayed as a manslut and I didn’t want Avery near him at all. It would only lead to more hurt. However, Jase grew on me. He feels so different when he is with Avery than when he is with his friends.

Some may claim that there was instalove. I think what they had was chemistry that bloomed very quickly. This book is a very quick read so everything, not just the romance moved at a very fast pace. Avery’s resistant still kept it from becoming something totally unbelievable.

Like I mentioned, I read this book very quickly. Ryan’s writing is smooth and very easy to read. When I finished the book, I wasn’t sure how I felt. I enjoyed it while it lasted, but I’m not sure if it had the lasting affect that some others books I’ve read had. And that is the reason why I’m giving it 3.5 stars instead of a solid 4. It has presence, but the characters didn’t stick with me after that.

What I have learned from reading this book is that I do enjoy Ryan’s writing style and will try more of her others books out as well.
