“Whenever I’m in the mood for a bad boy YA then I will definitely be going back to this series to get my fill.”
~ Under the Covers

It’s been a long time since I read the first book in the series but I remember really enjoying the characters, especially Kai. When I started reading SWEET PERIL, I was reminded of that events of the last book but Higgins doesn’t really go over the details of what happened with Anna and Kaiden and therefore, it really took some time for me to readjust and get my head up to speed on what happened. So if you’re forgetful like me, maybe it’s a good thing to read this series one book right after the other, instead of waiting a year before picking up the new one. In the beginning, I had a tough time getting reacquainted with the mythology and the events thus far because there was no recap.

Good girl Anna has disappeared. She is now a party girl and I’m not quite sure that I liked this side of her. What I liked about the sweeter Anna was what she was likeable. This Anna, however, seemed a bit….boring. After the events of the last book, Kaiden is off doing his own thing while Anna is still trying to figure out how to deal. This divide between them created a major setback in what Higgins built in the first book and I wasn’t really a fan of it. However, this book does heat up quite quickly. I think this Young Adult series will cater to adults because of its more racy nature. I’d actually be a little worried if young girls were reading this book because DAMN, Kai can be a dirty bastard, can’t he? But that’s why we all love him, don’t we.

There’s only one more book in the series. But Higgins has also written Kai’s book which is be from his POV. I’m not sure if I want to continue the series just yet. Something about this one kind of dragged with me. But I think whenever I’m in the mood for a bad boy YA then I will definitely be going back to this series to get my fill.
