Review: Slade by Laurann Dohner

“Another New Species book, another sexy hunk of testosterone” Under the Covers

Dr Trisha Norbit first saw a New Species male when one pinned her underneath him whilst she was trying to treat him just after he had been rescued. And she can’t seem to get him out of her mind, so when a job opportunity comes along to work with New Species she takes it…and sees him. Only he has named himself Slade and he doesn’t recognise her. Slade likes the new doctor and despite how much he desires her, he kind stop thinking about the woman he pinned in the hospital…

Another New Species book, another sexy hunk of testosterone, this time in the form of Slade and we also got to know Trish the New Species doctor as they battled to get together. I admit this book was very similar to the first in the series, but with just enough differences that I didn’t mind too much.

Slade had a little more action in it though as Slade and Trish had to run and hide in a forest as they were being chased by hunters. Of course they still had enough time to have a little nookie mid-chase, so how bad could it really be? And the sex was hot enough that I didn’t mind that it was so completely inappropriately timed. In fact, the sex scenes in all these have all been really hot, New Species men really know how to rev a woman’s engine! But as well as the sex, the romance between Slade and Trish was also great, I love how gruff and romantic they can be, even though they can also be over bearing, but with oral skills like Slade possess I wouldn’t complain too much.

What I didn’t like was how abruptly this seemed to end. I turned the page over and fully expected another chapter, as although everything had now been resolved it was still very sudden, almost like she wasn’t sure how to end it and just decided to stop writing. And, I also don’t like how so far both the heroines in this series have been almost raped, as in seconds away from penetration. Firstly it seems lazy to do the same thing twice, especially consecutively and secondly because of the causal way rape it just thrown in, it doesn’t quite sit right with me.

But, I did enjoy this book and will be carrying on the series, there are so many hot New Species males that I can’t wait to find out more about! If you want something hot and choc full of alpha males then I highly recommend that you pick this series up!
