review
This is the last full length book in the Wallflowers quartet and I can’t give it anything but full marks. Although it may not be my favourite in the series I still think it was brilliant, fantastic, amazing and all other related synonyms.
After having gotten to know Daisy over the previous three books I am delighted that she has finally gotten her HEA. The reason this isn’t my favourite of the series is because I don’t it had the passion and turbulent emotions the other books possess. This was more of a sweet love story. Not that they weren’t passionate and this book does have its steamy moments. But our hero Matthew Swift isn’t quite as memorable as the ruthless and piratical Simon Hunt, or have Westcliffe’s arrogant stoicism mixed with unexpected passion and St. Vincent’s cold sensuality. He is however perfect for Daisy.
“Is there any emergency for which you are not prepared for Mr Swift?”
“Miss Bowman, if I had enough pockets I could save the world.”
Scandal in Spring by Lisa Kleypas
Like the others in this series Scandal in Spring by Lisa Kleypas had its standout moments. One in particular was a vicious game of bowls. But, what really sets this book, and this series, above other in the genre is its focus on female friendship. We get to see the other wallflowers as they support Daisy, the last unmarried lady in the group. It’s truly wonderful to see these kind of bonds represented in romance
in conclusion
I am sad that this excellent series is now ending. It has brought to life a cast of characters that I know I will never forget. Luckily for us Lisa Kleypas has written a many more books all of which I have loved. However, the Wallflower series holds a special place in my heart and I am already look forward to all my future rereads.
