“Since this series is a little more on the sexier side, it reminds me a lot of Toni Blake’s Destiny series that definitely burns up the sheets. And yet, the humor and particularly Vanessa and Cameron’s personality in this book, reminds me a lot of Julie James’ style as well. If you’re a fan of either of them, you.must.read.this.series!” ~ Under the Covers
Vanessa Campbell is one of the tougher girls of the group. She’s a perfectionist and always has to be right. With the way she was brought up, Vanessa didn’t receive love or attention from her parents and that has really affected how she runs her own life. However, RUINING MR. PERFECT shows that Vanessa is absolutely capable of falling in love. The only problem is, she doesn’t know how to handle it.
Cameron McCauley is the sensitive one. He’s the smart, sexy and successful hottie in a suit that can charm the pants off everyone. So it’s really no surprise when the sexual tension between Vanessa and Cam heats up quick.
What I love about this book is the way Harte made it all about the hero and the heroine. So many books have conflicts that are based on just miscommunication, which I’ll admit happens here. However, I didn’t feel annoyed as I usually do with those kinds of easily-solved problems with this one. I think it’s because Harte does a fabulous job of showing the reader where Vanessa is coming from and nicely displays how afraid she is. By the end, you’re rooting for her character as she makes those grand leaps that I don’t think I’d be strong enough to do, so it’s nice when the reader can relate to character’s emotions and fears.
Of course, Harte doesn’t stray from the sexiness – one of my favorite things about this series. And yet, with all the smoking hot sex scenes in this book, Harte makes each one important in developing their relationship. The one that absolutely killed me is when Vanessa breaks into him home and waits for him to get back into the gym. There’s not a lot of passionate words there, but the scene definitely packs an emotional punch and nearly broke my heart in the process.
Something different that was added in is the ups and downs of Bitsy and Pop or better known as Beth and James, the boys’ parents. It may come as a shock to many but they are on the rocks and everything they experience gets hard before it can get better. Kudos to Harte who is not only able to balance TWO romances well in one book, but to give their parents the happily-ever-after that they deserve.
Next up is Mike’s book and if the last chapter of the book is anything to go by, it’s definitely going to be a thrill to read. I am dying for Mike and Del to be together. Since this series is a little more on the sexier side, it reminds me a lot of Toni Blake’s Destiny series that definitely burns up the sheets. And yet, the humor and particularly Vanessa and Cameron’s personality in this book, reminds me a lot of Julie James’ style as well. If you’re a fan of either of them, you.must.read.this.series!
