“This story is definitely darker and edgier, while still being sexy and stimulating.” ~ Under the Covers
In the Company of Killers is exactly the type of series that it sounds like. It’s dark and will test your comfort zones. In REVIVING IZABEL I feel we went deeper into stretching my comfort levels. Our heroine, Sarai, is supposed to be living an unassuming life away from the dangers of Victor’s lifestyle. And away from her past. But she can’t leave well enough alone. She wants vengeance.
So Sarai will become Izabel again. Where Sarai is a sweet normal girl, Izabel is daring and… a wannabe killer. I was both attracted by this new tougher version of her, just as much as I was disturbed by some of her way of thinking. The fact that she wants Victor is one thing, even the fact that she would just accept what his job is, but the fact that she wants to be like him really pushed my limits. I didn’t know how to feel at times with that.
This story is definitely darker and edgier, while still being sexy and stimulating. Victor opens up and softens a bit, showing his love for Izabel. So as she toughens up, he softens. I guess you could say they meet in a happy medium. I still think I liked the first book better than this one, even though this was a good story.
The hero for the next book is set up in this one and I’m intrigued. Can’t say I’m excited and highly anticipating it. But it should be interesting.
