“As soon as I finished one I was straight on to Amazon getting the next one. I was addicted. ”
~ Under the Covers

~ This is a review of the first 3 books in the Resurrection Chronicles: Demon Ember, Demon Flames and Demon Ash ~

It isn’t just Mya’s world that’s falling, it’s everyone’s. The arrival of the seemingly unkillable red-eyed hounds whose bite turns people into mindless zombies has driven humanity into a post apocalyptic world. No one is safe, especially in the dark. Mya is doing her best to survive and reach Oklahoma city and her family when a new monster attacks her and her companions. He looks like a man…if a human man had grey skin, pointed ears, sharp teeth and was 7ft tall. But, he spares Mya’s life and now seems content to follow her and protect her from the dangers of this new post-apocalyptic world.

It may seem like I am being lazy reviewing 3 books in 1 review; however, each book continues seamlessly on from where the previous one ended. In fact, when I think about it, I can’t really remember which events happen in each book it’s all merged together as we watch the post apocalyptic paranormal romance love story unfold between Mya and Drav. Another reason why they merged together? I couldn’t put them down. As soon as I finished one I was straight on to Amazon getting the next one. I was addicted.

For anyone who is a fan of Sandra Neeley’s Whispers from the Bayou series or Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarians series (which FYI makes a cameo in these books!) then I know you will love these. They have the same type of hero; barbarian in appearance, a little primitive and strangely innocent with a heart like a marshmallow – all soft and sweet. Basically, my favourite kind of hero. Which, is why I loved Drav, but I warn you to be patient with some of his more… violent actions -never against the heroine – won’t make sense until you are further along.

Mya is a college student who gets chucked into the deep end. Although I liked her, it did take me a while to warm to her. I think I was too busy swooning over Drav.  However, this is one of the reasons that although this is a recommended read, that I didn’t rate it a 4 or 5 stars. I have to fall in love with both the hero and heroine for it to rate that highly. But, I did love Drav and the idea behind this series. These books set up a dangerous new world where if the zombies don’t get you, the hellhounds will. And, if you survive that you then need to be wary of the other surviving humans as well. It’s an exciting read.

This is a great start to this paranormal romance series and I am dying to get my hands on the next book.
