Reasons I fell for the Funny Fat Friend was a great book and I am glad I gave it a chance; I loved the characters and the story, it was uncomplicated but a really great feel good read ~ Under the Covers
Brody has fallen for his scumbag brother’s ex-girlfriend, but he can’t seem to find a way to tell her, so he enlists Hayley, the school matchmaker to help him. But Brody soon realises that the quirky funny Hayley is the one he really wants, he just needs to get her past her fixation on her self imposed title of the FFF; the funny fat friend.
I am not a fan of the young adult genre, especially if it is centred around a romance, the main characters drive me insane and remind why I avoid all things teenager and whiny. But, I have found an exception to my avoid-YA-at-all-costs rule as I really loved this book. It was funny, quirky and sweet with a main couple who I really liked.
I also liked that it was a little different as it is told entirely from Brody’s POV, it was interesting to see everything through the guy’s eyes for a change. And damn, was Brody gorgeous inside and out, funny, sweet, caring, he was almost a little too perfect; however, he made for good book candy. Hayley was in the ever increasing group of quirky heroines; she also had a few self esteem and body issues making her easy to identify with. Together they were a wonderful couple with great chemistry as they bond together really quickly, especially as Brody realises very quickly that it is Hayley he wants and not his brother’s ex.
Reasons I fell for the Funny Fat Friend was a great book and I am glad I gave it a chance; I loved the characters and the story, it was uncomplicated but a really great feel good read.
