This book was completely ridiculous and most definitely absurd, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying every unlikely page of it.  ~ Under the Covers

Miss Penelope Fairweather has come to London from her small village to stay with her late mother’s friend and have a season. But Penelope stumbles from disaster to disaster, from getting accidentally rip roaringly drunk on her first night and then to finding her pet eating the Duke’s underwear. But Penelope has this one chance of finding herself husband and she is determined to make the best of it, no matter what a certain bad tempered yet handsome Duke says about it.

This book was completely ridiculous and most definitely absurd, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying every unlikely page of it. This is the perfect book if you are looking for something to make you laugh and to have a lot of fun with. Though if you want a book with an irresistible and sensual romance populated with complex and deep characters than you have come to the wrong place.

The romance itself was lukewarm at best, for most of this book the love interest Charles, Duke of Blackthorne is a complete beast and is rather horrible to poor Penelope and he never really does anything to redeem himself. However, as this was a light hearted and comical romance I wasn’t too concerned, it wasn’t trying to have an epic love story; it was trying to squeeze out as many laughs as it possibly could.

This was a farce filled romance with some likable characters, especially our kind hearted heroine Penelope, and although the romance was a let down and there was barely a hint of sexy times I still enjoyed it and will be reading the next book in the series.
