“Never Been Kissed managed to be both extremely funny and incredibly touching,” ~ Under the Covers
I bought this on a whim, I love the insecure, slightly chubby nerdy girl meeting hot guy with tats (and nipple piercing *swoon*) kind of books and this one slotted right in. Add in the cute factor with an adorable 4 year old boy and bam! Sold. And I didn’t regret it, Never Been Kissed managed to be both extremely funny and incredibly touching.
I couldn’t help but love proud nerd Sera, whose wardrobe consists mostly of jeans and nerdy t-shirts, how could I not when I rock some nerdy t-shirts of my own? As for Hunter, you like an angsty hero with a mysterious past and more issues than you can shake a stick at (and did I mention the nipple piercing?) than he is definitely your man. Together, adorable.
The reason I didn’t give this a higher rating, is because although I did understand and could even empathise with Sera’s constant self criticism and her almost certainty that Hunter was playing her, despite his many protestations and displays to the opposite, I found it really frustrating after a certain point.
However, I did really enjoy the romance and the humour in this book, and the bond between Sera and Matty, Hunter’s son, was lovely and I enjoyed the development of that as much as the romantic relationship. This looks as though it is going to be a series, so I am definitely going to keep an eye out for the next book so I can what C.M. Kars has in store for us next.
