This book came to my attention when it popped up on my Goodreads feed. After reading the blurb and seeing the cover, I was very intrigued. I am glad that it caught my attention or I would have missed a great read.
Seth, the base guitarist of My Misery Muse, and his childhood sweetheart Devi had moved on with their lives. Seth became a recording artist/band member and Devi, a well-known tattoo artist, has also made a name for herself. It has been years since they last saw each other but when they meet again, Seth realizes things had never quiet ended between them. They live an unconventional life as a rock star and a tattoo artist and getting to know each other again will have its struggles. I loved seeing them overcome them in the name of love. Specifically, getting to know each other physically…it was the most entertaining part *cough* tats and piercing *cough*.
I love Seth. He is one determined man and when he decides he wants something He will work his ass off to get it. I also will not hold back on judging him by his beautiful tattoos and his manly piercings…holy Jacob’s ladder!!! But seriously, this guy is super sweet, sexy as hell and can move like Jagger. Devi was sweet too. Her character was more realistic and believable. Though her heart still belongs to Seth, she does the best she can to live her life. She was positive and just as focused. I give it to her for doing her best given her current status.
I have not read a lot of Rock Band books, but from what I’ve read, I know that the story is closely linked with the characters from the band as well as the H/h (Hero/heroine) of the book. Ms. Betzold did a great job balancing the romance and incorporating the secondary characters into the story. Everyone played their role of supporting, trashing and loving/hating each other…oh the life of a rock star. All the side characters are adorable though. They also were a part of why I could not put this book down. Drake, Eli and Chris intrigued me and I would love to read more about them.
One thing that bothered me, just a tiny bit was the change of POV. Though I love reading both Seth and Devi’s thoughts, occasionally the transitions were a bit off and I had to read back and figure out who’s POV I was reading. Overall, My Misery Muse is an entertainingly sexy read. One I recommend to groupies like myself.
