Review: Mile High by R.K. Lilley

MILE HIGH was one of those books that I devoured. I started and couldn’t find myself stopping. The writing feels tighter, the characters more three-dimensional and vivid, and the romance stronger than ever. ~ Under the Covers

Oh Mr. Cavendish. You get more and more delicious with each page.

If you’re a fan of the Crossfire series or even The Blackstone Affair series by Raine Miller, then this book has that sexy billionaire feel to it. As a hotel owner, James Cavendish definitely fits the description of the hot, tortured, possessive and slightly stalkerish billionaire description. But trust mewhen I saw that all his intentions are good. After where the events in the last book left readers, there was no question that James would be on high alert. Nothing is more precious than Bianca, so he will do everything in his power to protect her.

In MILE HIGH, we get a more in depth look to James. We see another side to him – several actually. There is his tender side, his dominant side, his starkerish side and his mean side. I loved seeing the different dimensions of him and I thought that Lilley did a great job of further deepening her character and showing some flaws. As each page was turned, I fell more and more in love with James.

Bianca keeps James at a distance. Her physical wounds still bother her and she doesn’t want James to get overly involved in her situation. But that does nothing to deter James at all. He is quite the persistent man and is exactly what Bianca needs at the moment. Slowly, he is able to coax her out of her shell and through communication and sex, they are able to find trust in one another. James is willing to give Bianca his entire world. I’m interested to see is Bianca heals enough so that she can give him a piece of her to him as well.

I enjoyed the sex scenes in IN FLIGHT, but I much preferred the sex in MILE HIGH. This was exactly what I had hoped for from James. Lilley doesn’t hold back with the creativity in this one. The horseback one was particularly memorable and sexy. I also really loved the choking and struggle scene. But perhaps what’s so great about these scenes is that they all stay true to James’s personality. I didn’t feel as if they were added in for shock value, but as a way to show James in his true nature. IN FLIGHT was just an introduction and now that James has irrevocably fallen for Bianca, he is showing her everything about him, daring her not to love it. And him.

If this in any indication of what GROUNDED will be like, I’m jumping head first into this world again!
