Review: Love the Way You Lie by Skye Warren

When I was looking for erotic romances to read this year for the Roundabout Challenge, I had to give Skye Warren a try.  I’ve wanted to read her for years and in fact I think I marked two of her books on my original list for the challenge.  This was my first one and I wanted to try one that would lead into a series if I enjoyed it.  In many ways while reading this, I wished I had read this years ago when my love for erotic romance was higher.  Why?  Because it’s incredibly well written and it delivered everything I used to love about reading this genre.

LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE was a little dark and dangerous without going overboard with it.  It’s incredibly sexy and hot as well.  But I think it may have been playing it a little safe?  I thought this was a dark erotic series and while reading it I kept expecting it to go darker but I don’t think it ever did.  That’s the thing about expectations though because if I take that away from my experience then this book was really enjoyable in terms of the storyline.

What I had a harder time with was connecting with the characters.  I liked them ok but I never cared enough about them to be consumed about their final outcome.  I felt bad for Honor but I also found her a little naive and annoying.  And that made me feel bad because I should’ve only felt terrible for the position she was in and for how she was trying to keep her sister safe.

However, all that being said I will continue the series when I need this kind of fix.  I would say so far this is great for fans of Shayla Black’s Wicked Lovers series.
