“While this was cute at times, I found it boring. My favorite part of LAST CALL? Clive at the end.” ~ Under the Covers
I know I’ll probably get some fans thinking I’m completely deluded because everyone seems to love these two. But I think I can now say I’m officially over Alice Clayton. I’ve now read two series by her and both of them I started out loving. WALLBANGER and THE UNIDENTIFIED REDHEAD were great reads and favorites of mine. They were quirky and funny and just adorable. But then the jokes were repetitive, the characters weren’t growing and I started to lose interest. I didn’t enjoy RUSTY NAILED because I lost my interest in Simon and Caroline. Mainly because of Caroline. SCREWDRIVERED was much better in my opinion and I thought the series had a chance. Then MAI TAI’D UP was just ok. And this? Well, I thought it was unnecessary. If I didn’t have to read any more about Simon and Caroline ever again I would’ve been ok with that.
LAST CALL is full of the same jokes, which after four books I don’t find cute or funny anymore. And Caroline was her same old same old Caroline unless she’s shaken up a bit. I keep wondering what Simon finds so irresistible to make the effort. This is their journey to being Mr. and Mrs. Wallbanger. Of course there are some hurdles to overcome. And of course, I wanted to bang Caroline’s head against the wall a few times. Speaking of wallbanging? There’s more of that in this book, which was a nice surprise.
While this was cute at times, I found it boring. My favorite part of LAST CALL? Clive at the end.

I’ve got the first on my tbr pile…thanks for sharing your thoughts Francesca
I enjoyed the first enough to listen to The Redhead Series, which I LOVED. But I haven’t been back to this series yet. Just haven’t had the time. And I think, that this will slip the series a bit further down the list. Great review.
I enjoyed this novella, too bad you didn’t like as much as I did. I think Alice ended the series just in time with LAST CALL.
Oh, too bad you didn’t like it! I read Wallbanger, but haven’t gotten to the others in this series yet. I guess I will see…..
Thanks for your review, I was really hoping this series was going to go out on a high note.
