I am a huge, huge, huge fan of Cherise Sinclair. It’s almost scary the amount of love I have for her and her books. There’s some something very compelling about each of Sinclair’s stories. I decided to try HOUR OF THE LION because she’s a writing goddess.

Immediately going into this book, I figured out that maybe this one wasn’t going to capture my attention as some of Sinclair’s other books. I think the main reason is because I never really fell in love with either of the men in the book. They were teasing and flirty with Victoria, but I don’t think that was enough for me to like them. It could be that I was comparing them to her Doms of her other books so that they seemed to pale in comparison to my favorite Masters. But to me, they just didn’t stand out.

What I did like about this book is the suspense aspect. Victoria , the heroine is a covert ops agent who is trying to protect innocents from falling into a trap involving animal shifters. When she is captured herself, the steaks rise higher than ever before and now Victoria must figure out how to handle these bad guys without getting hurt herself. I liked this book, but it just didn’t hit me at hard as her other books I have. It’s an enjoyable read, but perhaps not my favorite of Sinclair’s.

About Cherise Sinclair

Having to wear glasses in elementary school can scar a person for life. Dubbed a nerd at an early age, Cherise Sinclair has been trying to live up to the stereotype ever since. And what better way than being an author?

Known for writing deeply emotional stories, the USA Today Bestselling Author has penned sixteen erotic romance novels, most with a BDSM theme. (Please do not mention the phrase mommy porn in her presence.) Her awards range from a National Leather Award to a Romantic Times Reviewer’s Choice nomination to a GoodReads BDSM group award for best author of the year. Called an “ascendant erotica queen” by Rolling Stone Magazine, Cherise spends her days writing, supervised by a sadistic calico cat.

  1. I loved Hour of the Lion. I think it was a mistake on the reviewers part to assume this would be like a Shadowlands book. The male protagonists are just as wonderful as the Doms of Shadowlands. The brothers are uniquely different from Doms and from each other. They are, however, scorching HOT, and intense. The characters that populate this world are wonderful and some terrifying. I hope the reviewer can objectively review the second book in this series.

  2. I have to agree with Emptrix. I really loved the slow build of the relationships in this book though (just as much as I loved the fast and furious ones in the Shadowlands books.) What really stood out in this book was the world building and plotting. If you expect these books to be like the Shadowlands books you’re bound to be disappointed since they are very different –not worse (IMHO) just not similar.

  3. I have a couple of books by Cherise Sinclair in my eTbr but haven’t had a chance to read them – don’t think I have this book though…thanks for the review
