“…it was an incredibly sweet story with a emotionally as well as physically scarred hero getting a little but of healing through the power of luuurve.” ~ Under the Covers

The last thing that Lisa Millar expects when she visits her husbands grave is to be kidnapped…by aliens. Taken abroad that ship Lisa is expected to be brought back to their home and married to one of their males; however, she is not entirely unattached, she has two little girls who she refuses to leave behind. Even if she has to make a deal with the fearsome and scarred male to get them. King Grim Vasteri never expected to get a note, even though he is King, his scarred face disgusts the rare females on his planet. But Lisa and her girls are a gift to him and never plans on letting anyone hurt them, or let them go…

I read far too many books where abduction is sexy, knowing my luck if I ever do get abducted by aliens they won’t be the sexy, tender warrior type like Grim, but rather the slimy green kind with ten eyes and suckers on their tentacles. But, in my dreams my ideal alien husband is a lot like Grim, strong, fierce, protective, loving and hung like a horse. Not a drop of slime in sight.

I really enjoyed this book, it was very much on the cheesy side of sci-fi, with an improbable romance and i-love-yous spouted out seemingly 10 minutes after first contact. But, it was an incredibly sweet story with a emotionally as well as physically scarred hero getting a little but of healing through the power of luuurve. What made is even sweeter was that it wasn’t just romantic love, Grim could have gone up and won the Alien Step Dad of the Year award, watching him bond with Lisa’s little girls was adorable.

There was also a mystery and happenings in the alien universe going on in the background, this was especially true toward the latter half of the book and although it was great as it set stories up for (hopefully!) another book, I did find that it dragged a bit. But I did really enjoy the romance between Grim and Lisa, it was at times funny, touching and of course sexy.

A good read, especially if, like me, you have slightly exotic fantasies of being abducted and ravished by a hot horny alien, but setting aside the alien thing, it was a really nice love story and I can’t wait to read the next in the series.

  1. Yeah, I’ve had that suspicion about my own alien abduction scenario. I would definitely not get lucky to get a Grim. LOL!

Sounds like a light, enjoyable read. Thanks, Suzanne!
