“You have to meet the Chase family too, you’ll love them!” ~Under the Covers

True to my New Years resolutions…I’m cleaning up my TBR!  Starting off first with the Chase Brothers, because it’s long overdue that I visit Petal, Georgia!  The Chase Brothers are the towns hotties, and they are all available.  They are not 100% manwhores…. ok maybe a little, and to catch one definitely means you are made of awesome.

So when Maggie finds herself without a boyfriend, she couldn’t really believe she caught the eye of a Chase brother.  And then it was two.  Shane is the town’s sheriff, and a bit of an asshole.  But that’s a story for another day, since he has issues.  I’m not sure how much I liked the fact that Maggie went out with Shane and was really into him, but then felt the same for his brother Kyle.  Yes, Kyle is sexy as hell and much sweeter and deserving than Chase ever was, but I think it would be an extremely awkward situation to have dated one and now another brother.  But that’s just me.

Maggie has a lot of self confidence issues that stem on her upbringing.  Her mother is basically a bitch, as is her sister.  Her father has no balls to stand up for his daughter and defend her.  And throughout the years, all that affected her self esteem.  She never thought she would be pretty enough to be with such a hot guy.  But there she is dating the wonderful Kyle Chase, even though the rest of the girls in town are trying to snatch him away. I loved how Kyle always made it a point to make her feel like a Goddess, in private or public.

Kyle is one of those sweet and caring heroes, not so much the rough and alpha type.  He’s still very dominant and protective, but I loved his nurturing ways.  He was definitely ready to be in a serious relationship and it showed in his actions.  Lucky girl that Maggie is.

I also enjoyed the bit of suspense subplot with Maggie’s stalker.  It added a nice distraction to the storyline and threw in conflict without being over the top and creating unnecessary fights.

This might not be the most memorable Lauren Dane book I’ve ever read, but I feel it’s the beginning of a great series and I can’t wait to read all about the rest of the brothers.  And of course, get to see more of the mom. 😉  You have to meet the Chase family too, you’ll love them!
