FROSTBITE is an A+ graphic novel! Amazing! ~ Under the Covers
OH.MY.GOD!!! I loved this graphic novel! Even though FROSTBITE is not my favorite book of the VA series, I definitely thought that Mead, Dragoon and Viceli really upped their game in the second book of this graphic novel series. I’ll break it down into parts so it’s a little clearer…
THE COVER:
The cover features Rose and Christian front and center, surrounded by those red-eyed Strigoi! Rose is definitely looking badass and Christian – *sigh* I love Christian – is looking like he’s ready to kick someone’s ass with his Fire powers. I am loving this cover, way more than the first book.
THE SET UP:
In the first beginning pages of the graphic novel, they go into great detail about the world and what has already happened in the first book. They did such a great job that I think that even if you didn’t read the books or even the first graphic novel, you wouldn’t feel lost at all. It’s a nice refresher for loyal fans and a great recap for new ones. A+ job on that!
THE ART:
I know I said that I wasn’t too thrilled about the art in the first graphic novel. I’m going to eat my words. In this one, I thought the pictures were far more clearer, the angles and POVs moved the story forward and the action sequences definitely kicked some serious ass! The one character that I’m still a little meh about is Lissa. She looks better in this one for sure, but it’s something about her elongated nose that doesn’t fit her face. Christian grew on me more and more. And Mason – oh, Mason! – he looked cute as a button!
And then there’s the introduction of a major character that I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT! Someone smack me on the side of the head! How could I forget? I think I was just really focused on the whole thing with Mason and knowing what’s going to happen that I forgot about my boyfriend, Adrian Ivashkov.
Adrian, Adrian, Adrian. Let me just spit it out – HE LOOKED SMOKING!!! Definitely my favorite visual adaptation in the novels so far! He looked exactly how I pictured him in my head! Another A+ job on him!
THE STORY:
The major thing I was looking forward to was seeing how they would depict the Mason part. One word: Amazing! And for some reason, at that one particular scene, I just happened to get something in my eye. Really. It was weird.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
I LOVED IT! It had everything I loved about the books and more! After reading this, I’m tempted to go back and reread the entire VA series caused it reminded me of how much I’ve enjoyed it.

Ann, I have all of these books saved in my library for future re-reads. There is just something about this series that still sticks with me. Dimitri is just sooooo sexy and Rose is a kick-ass heroine that I wish I could be 🙂
Awesome, this definitely goes down as one of my fave series. I adore Rose. She reminds me of myself when I was in high school and every girl wants a Dimitri of their own!
Thank you for the review. I’m not that into YA books.
