“In this genre, you have a lot of intuitive heroines, but none of them come close to Tara Holloway in my opinion. She’s the kind of girl that you want on your side.”
~ Under the Covers

In this fun-filled Cozy Mystery, we’re back in action with Tara Holloway who has quickly become one of my favorite heroines. Kickass but completely likeable, she’s a character that I think often gets overlooked and I have no idea why. Not only does she have good instincts, but she is also a sharp shooter. In this genre, you have a lot of intuitive heroines, but none of them come close to Tara Holloway in my opinion. She’s the kind of girl that you want on your side.

In this second book to the series, things are looking a little bit grim in Tara’s latest case. She and her partner, Eddie, are working themselves to the bone and it seems that they are going nowhere. It’s starting to wear of them a little bit, as well as the people in their lives. Although Tara is in a relationship with Brett, Tara is keeping things away from him, so it makes me wonder if a relationship like that will last. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series to see what happens.

I will say that the pacing of this book is a little off. The beginning takes a while before things start to pick up, but that’s also to reflect the slump that Eddie and Tara are in. By the second half, it picks up a lot, making up for the slow start so in the end, I didn’t really mind it. It actually made for a good story.

This series is just so fun, and I love returning to it whenever I need something to pick me up. I can’t wait to see what comes from Pratt’s character next!

  1. I first noticed the creative titles for this series last year and meant to check it out. Tara sounds great and it seems I need to make a trip to the library for this one.

    Thanks, Annie!
