I love her sarcastic humour and crazy characters and although this definitely wasn’t my favourite book in this series I still really enjoyed it and read it cover to cover in a day ~ Under the Covers
Rory James and Connor O’Neil are childhood enemies, since preschool Connor has been tormenting little Rory James; pulling her pigtails chasing off her loser boyfriends and moving in next door, she is the highlight of his day. But now they are in competition for the same contract, only in a fit of madness the client has hired them to work together the whole town knows not to put Rory James and Connor O’Neil in the same room, let alone working closely together for 5 months…!
R.L. Mathewson’s Neighbor from Hell series has been one of my favourite discoveries this year, I love her sarcastic humour and crazy characters and although this definitely wasn’t my favourite book in this series I still really enjoyed it and read it cover to cover in a day.
What I loved most about this book was Connor; like the other guys in this series he was choc full of arrogance and yet you can’t help but love him. It was also adorable how obvious it was that he was completely in love with Rory; he looked out for at the same time as he stole her hot chocolate and tormented her. As for Rory, she was quirky and fun and didn’t let Connor give her too much crap without going to extreme lengths to get him back.
However, despite Rory and Connor’s antagonistic relationship the love story between them was still sweet and really sexy, they definitely had off the charts sexual chemistry.
Another great book in the series, it was hilarious and steamy I highly recommend it!

About R.L. Mathewson
Before I tried my hand at writing I was a receptionist, cafeteria worker at the college I attended, museum worker, bellhop, and about a dozen other different things that are pretty embarrassing so we're just going to skip over those things and pretend that they never happened ;D
I can't just sit around with nothing to do while I try to be deathly silent so that I don't wake up one of my children and send them into a blood curdling screaming fit. So, to fill the time I started to read again. When I was in school I was a bookworm, but got away from it as I grew older. I was drawn back into my love of reading by Julia Quinn's What Happens In London. It was a wonderful, witty book and I fell instantly in love with romance novels.
Some of the romance novels that I read were great and I couldn't get enough, I started to play with the idea of writing a book. Several months later I finally gave in and tried. For four months straight I worked day and night until finally I finished my first book. Then of course I re-read what I wrote, cringed and deleted the entire book and started over again.
After reading an article about self-publishing I knew that was the way I wanted to go. I like the freedom to write what I want, when I want and publish a story that I hope others will enjoy reading. It gives me a great deal of freedom and allows me to retain full control over my work, which of course allows me to set the prices of my books and make them affordable for everyone 🙂 Which of course is the reasoning behind the $0.99 price tag for my books.
That's how I became a writer and why I self-publish. Well, that and I'm pretty laid back and don't want to be hassled with contractual obligations. That would just cut into my writing time, time with my kids, reading time and my hot cocoa addiction. Yes, I am thoroughly addicted to hot cocoa and if you're interested in experiencing the perfect cup of cocoa you can find the recipe for my cocoa somewhere on my author blog.
Gosh, we all seem to be admitting our ages…and I hate that I am at the point in life when admitting my age is a “thing”…whodda thunk it? I was kind of hoping I would remain 21 forever. However, I have moved out of that New Adult stage of my life and am now strictly in the Contemporary Romance age zone of 28. I would prefer to be in an Urban Fantasy arena, but I don’t think I own enough black leather. However, I could probably squeeze into some PNR, I am fully prepared to give a horn job to my favourite demon, or suck on my sexy vamps…fangs and I am definitely up for some heavy petting with some fine looking shifters. Than again their’s always Sci Fi…I am fully prepared to do the right thing and help some poor alien race with more 6 packs than a supermarket repopulate their planet. Not that I am loose woman or anything.
Annnnnd I will stop myself there, before I start waxing lyrical about my love of historical romance and fantasy as well; no one needs to know about my elf fantasies. As you can tell, I adore and day dream about most romance genres, and my three big loves are 1) reading about romance 2) writing about romance and 3) talking about romance with my gals. Which, is why I love Under the Covers so much, I get all my bookish needs satisfied and don’t get judged when I talk about my favourite characters like they are real people. Which they are right?
Suz, I am a huge fan of this author and this series. Love the whole food thing between all the boys in the family, but glad to see that this book, Checkmate moved on from that and Rory/Connor trying to out-prank each other was hilarious.
I will look forward to more from this author!
