“Probst brought an unexpected edge to CHASING ME. She tests her characters’ loyalty, trust and love for each other making readers question the outcome of the story…Fans of Quinn and James will not be disappointed.” ~ Under the Covers

Probst brought an unexpected edge to CHASING ME. She tests her characters’ loyalty, trust and love for each other making readers question the outcome of the story.  I held my breath with anticipation from the beginning until the very last page.  Fans of Quinn and James will not be disappointed.

Chasing Me is the second installment in Quinn and James story in Jennifer Probst’s Sex on the Beach series.  Though the sequel to Beyond Me was not a need, it was a pleasant surprise.  I enjoyed Quinn and James before and getting more of their story was a great treat.

The story starts shortly after Quinn and James’ happy-every-after in Beyond ME.  Obviously, despite their HEA, life goes on.  After moving to Chicago, they will encounter life troubles of insecurities and trust.  Rightly so, considering how they had a rough start.  While Quinn starts her career, James struggles to adjust to his new life without his trust fund and weekend parties.  Making a name for himself without his parents’ connection and money will be a big hit on him but he is determined to make it work.  A very commendable move on his part but working hard is not what he’s used to, and problems will arise.  Quinn, on the other hand, still has her head on straight.  She’s planned out her moves from the very beginning, and she is following through.  Unfortunately, with James in the picture, moving forward will not be as smooth as she planned.

I enjoyed seeing their story unfold in this book. The struggles were real, and so were the insecurities.  I love what James has done to his life, and I love that he is trying his best for the better.  Quinn, well, she was a bit different in this book.  She is still very smart and very driven, but her ambitions were too high almost taking away her very nice persona.  Almost.

Because I didn’t expect a sequel to Beyond Me, I had no idea where Ms. Probst was leading the story or this series of that matter.  I was actually bracing myself for cliffhanger thinking  a possibility for the third book.  Unfortunately, I can’t confirm a third book, simply because I don’t know, but I can tell you that there is no cliffhanger in this book.  I’ve always enjoyed Jennifer Probst writing, and though this is not my favorite of her books, I still enjoyed it quite a bit. Looking forward to more of her work.
