Review: Blacque/Bleu by Belinda McBride

Simply put, Blacque/Bleu is hands down the best paranormal M/M I’ve read to date. Absolutely stunning in its worldbuilding and characters, McBride has penned one of the most memorable romances that will bring readers back looking for more. ~ Under the Covers

Belinda McBride isn’t a new author to me. I’ve read some of her BDSM titles, but this is the first I’ve read of her M/M romances. Lukas Blacque is a werewolf who has an important duty to his pack and his Alpha father to make some grandchildren. However, two big problems stands in the way: Blacque is a virgin and gay.

Oliver Bleu is a vampire who is experiencing insomnia. His past plagues him and he is suffering more and more as each day passes. Blacque and Bleu have his unspoken chemistry that drives them together until one night becomes the revelation they desperately need.

There are soooo many great things about this book. First off, the writing is stellar! Engaging and well-paced, I devoured this book because of the free-flowing way in which it was written. McBride really captured my attention and it didn’t wane until I turned that last page.

Easily the best thing about this book is Blacque and Bleu. I loved them both individually, but together, I MELTED FOR THEM! There is such potent chemistry and passion between the two. Brooding over their own respective problems, they find solace within each other’s presence creating a solid and unbreakable bond early on.

The paranormal aspect of this book seemed so naturally integrated that it seems so effortless on the reader’s part. It made sense that Bleu was experiencing insomnia because he was reliving events before he was turned and the conflict with Blacque in his pack seemed like a believable problem that would keep readers interested. I think that’s what propelled this story into one of the better written M/M stories I’ve read. The paranormal aspect of the story fit the characters so well that you’re simply engaged until the very end.
