“…there’s something that Ms. Dane does well. Hot and mature rock stars.”
~ Under the Covers
I’ve been waiting for this book since the first book when we saw there were still sparks between the divorced Hurley brother and the mother of his kids. I couldn’t wait to get the details and see them kiss and make up.
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with this installment. Kelly could’ve been a hard character to like. Knowing only that she used to be a model, I had some preconceived ideas as to what could’ve gone wrong. But seeing everything she had to put up with in their relationship and all the sacrifices she’s made since to do right by her kids, I could only love her character and be on her side.
Vaughan on the other end needed to do some groveling. Although this book didn’t have enough groveling as I would’ve liked on his part, I was happy to see that after years he finally came to his senses about what was the right way to act. And that includes in a big part the way he let his family think of Kelly.
He’s still a hot rock star but there’s something that Ms. Dane does well. Hot and mature rock stars. I guess I’m a bit over the antics of the crazy lifestyle that a lot of these rock star romances present. And I love seeing that other side and working on a true happily ever after.
There’s no denying the chemistry between these two, but I absolutely loved the fact that they are already so comfortable with each other. They’ve been married and have kids, even after years apart when they are back together there’s an ease to them being together that you can only get after years of living with someone. And that definitely came through. They both are caring parents, even if that may not always have been the case.
All in all, a very enjoyable addition to the series. Can’t wait to see what Ms. Dane does next!
