“AS GOOD AS THE FIRST TIME didn’t blow me away as I was expecting.”
~ Under the Covers
I’ve been wanting to try out K.M. Jackson for a while after following her on social media and when I was on the hunt for a very specific book (a foodie romance with a number in the title LOL) I came across this book. Now this isn’t one that had been on my radar but it sounded perfect for me. Second chance romance, set in a small town, heroine’s family owns a bakery that she comes into town to help run for a while and the hero is her ex who is now a single father and a firefighter. Hell yeah!
However, AS GOOD AS THE FIRST TIME didn’t blow me away as I was expecting. It’s kind of an understated love story but I felt like the writing was just a little choppy for my taste and it kept pulling me out of the flow. I didn’t get to fall in love with the characters as much as I thought I would, either. It was just a nice read to pass the time but I guess ultimately a bit forgettable. So in the end, I don’t think I’ll continue this series but I’ll definitely give this author another try.
