“If you like kickass heroines that may be a bit young but are ready to take life by the horns and adorable soft heroes kind of set in their ways, this is a great one for you.”
~ Under the Covers

I’m a sucker for a beautiful cover and when I saw this while browsing Amazon I just had to have it.  Plus, enemies to lovers and road trip romance? I’m in!

ALONG FOR THE RIDE delivered on a fun story. The enemies to lovers aspect is explored nicely, I really liked how the two characters went from animosity to interest to more.  Which is often what comes from wrong first impressions and assumptions.  That’s probably my favorite thing about this book.  On the other hand, it also dealt with other issues like race and a whole other set of bias as they made their way together on this road trip. Another thing that was done really well.

Ultimately, my issue and why I didn’t give this book more stars even though it was an enjoyable story and I had a good time reading it was the writing style. Maybe a bit choppy for me, sometimes it felt like I would lose the thread and had to re-read back because I was missing the flow between words, scenes, conversations. This may be just me. This also felt like two separate vibes between the first half and the second half.  Road trip half was amazing and had ALL the tropes! The second half definitely has a different focus and it felt a bit disjointed.

If you like kickass heroines that may be a bit young but are ready to take life by the horns and adorable soft heroes kind of set in their ways, this is a great one for you.

I am definitely looking forward to reading more by this author and to see her grow into her craft.
