Big purple space pirate accidentally kidnaps curvy human female while he was picking up samples of marine life to sell to collectors in his world and she was left to die in the middle of the ocean by her boyfriend. What he gets is a feisty female who tests his temper at every turn. No, this isn’t Suzanne writing this review! I picked up this book at some point when it was free a while back and I had marked it down on my Roundabout Challenge with the purpose of cleaning up my digital TBR. I’ve read Eve Langlais before and, generally, I like the humor in her books so I figured purple aliens would be just the same.
In some ways, yes that’s true. This book had Ms. Langlais feel of being light hearted and a story that doesn’t take itself too seriously. While I have read other books with some sort of scenario like this (the alien abduction), I didn’t have much of an issue with the premise here. The differences in language and communication are addressed in a logical way. Basically, I thought this was well put together and my brain had nothing to fight against. Which is what I often do with these stories. Logic tries to come in the picture. But logic worked here to a point. So I was happy.
What kept me from enjoying this more was the heroine. I know the type of heroine here is somewhat of a staple in the genre (and in most paranormals) but she gets on my nerves. I couldn’t even manage to feel bad about the original situation she found herself in and needed rescue from. In the end, she’s probably my least favorite part of this story even though I still liked her at times.
However, this served one purpose. It’s just a fun read with engaging and seamless writing. It was entertaining! Will I continue reading the series? Most likely not. But that’s not due to the author and has more to do with the fact that this is not usually my genre.

Thanks for the review.
I enjoy the sci fi alien romances but haven’t had much luck with this author’s books.
Glad you had a fun flight of fancy with a purple alien. I think I’ve got this one on my Kindle, too. I have read a few others later in the series and had a few chuckles. Yay for one more off the TBR pile.
