Jake and Adrien have come one of my favorite couples in M/M romance. I love the way Lanyon creates tension between the two but also, as they come together, there’s also a sense of rightness to it all. ~ Under the Covers

A DANGEROUS THING is book two in the Adrien English series and it’s one that I’ve completely fallen heads over heels for! There’s just something about the mystery and the ongoing romance between Adrien and Jake that just hooks me right in. I’ve become so invested in this series and I’m only two books in.

As Adrien is experiencing writer’s block, he goes to Northern California to try to snap himself out of it. He’s hoping that a change in scenery will bring him inspiration. But in reality, it only brings forth death and mystery. When Adrien approaches his front drive, he finds a dead body. He calls the authorities to report this, but when they finally show up, the body has disappeared.

Adrien calls in Jake, LAPD’S Homicide Detective and his would-be lover and as Lanyon creates more and more webs for Jake and Adrien to go through, he also sets up a blooming romance between the roughened cop and the intuitive bookseller.

Jake and Adrien have come one of my favorite couples in M/M romance. I love the way Lanyon creates tension between the two but also, as they come together, there’s also a sense of rightness to it all. I definitely get the feeling that they are supposed to be together.

One of my favorite parts of this book is their first kiss:

Deep and slow, searching….His hand cradled the back of my head, drawing me closer, tasting me. I tasked him back. We breathed in gentle unison  filling each other’s lungs with our quiet exhalations.

And it only heats up from there!

The mystery aspect of this book was very well done. There were so many moving parts, however I don’t think it was my favorite out of the two so far. However, I do admire the way Lanyon was able to integrate so many parts to the mystery, making it feel rich and adding to the whole ambiance of the book.

I shall be diving into the next book, which I’m told may kill me. Someone hold me. But I’m going in full throttle. I probably couldn’t stop myself even if I tried.

  1. I’ve been listening to this series as they SLOWLY come out in audio format. Only the first two are available as of 3/15/13. I can hardly wait for the next one! I do love this series.
