~ Under the Covers
I’m going to be honest here and tell you that I don’t read blurbs for the collab books of these two authors anymore. I just know I’m going to read them like the addict that I am. But when the cover was released for Rebel Heir, I was extremely excited because it just gave me all these bad boy vibes! I was curious to see what we would actually get in the story. I feel like these authors tend to write good guys in general.
One thing I was quick to notice … Rush is a sexy jerk and I couldn’t help but like him. I also saw through his tough guy act just as quick as the heroine did. I didn’t understand why most of his employees were so scared of him when he seemed like just a cute teddy bear with a bit of a rough exterior. In fact, by the end of this book he was still my favorite thing about this story.
Gia, the heroine, I had some more issues with. She’s just so different from me in her way to thinking or acting that I had a hard time connecting with her from the very beginning. And I couldn’t even be mad and think she’s TSTL or anything like that. She was just almost my complete opposite so I kept struggling with her actions and that was pulling me out of the story a bit.
The thing I loved the most was the fact that these two built a quick friendship. It felt natural even if my brain was screaming a bit unrealistic, but I had no trouble going with it and buying into it. And it was a fun workplace romance.
The big twist (or two) in the end of this one were a bit obvious to me. Actually, I figured out the second twist from almost the very beginning. The hints were laid out so obviously! Maybe that’s just me. But I didn’t think the first twist would happen and now that it’s all out on the table, I can’t wait to see how this is going to go down in the next one because I feel like I’ll need popcorn and settle in to watch a Jerry Springer episode. It’s about to get juicy and I can’t wait!
