“Together they are just a solid couple and a good addition to the series.”
~ Under the Covers
You know the thing that throws me off with this series? Each story is so different in tone that I think fans are kept a bit unsteady as to what they can expect. The Reapers start off gritty and raw with Horse but they don’t quite go back there again in my opinion. Each book is very different, and I think that’s good for some and not so good for others.
In my case, this is a good thing. It is also a good thing that I don’t mind a bit of “new adultish” with my contemporary badass bikers. REAPER’S FALL follows along in the vein of DEVIL’S GAME and shows us a younger group of Reapers and the women they fall for. Painter and Melanie met while they were both young, and this book starts off in the present (them not being together but having a baby) but does a quick turnaround to shows us their past and how they got to where they are.
We first got a taste for Painter in DEVIL’S GAME and for his relationship with Em. He’s a bad boy through and through and he’s done time for his club more than once. Through all that he’s had Mel to give him the push he needed to get through it. Both times in very different ways. To me, as much as he’s a bad boy being part of the club etc, he was a sweet softie for the woman he fell for.
The chemistry between them kept enough sexual tension and release to move the reader along. I only felt the story dragged a few times but it didn’t really take anything away from my enjoying it. Together they are just a solid couple and a good addition to the series.
I can’t say I was a big fan of Mel until we see her later on in the book dealing with the much more adult hand that life dealt her. She stepped up to the plate and earned my respect. And I have to give it to Painter for doing the same and sticking by her the way he did until he got her back.
I’m curious to see what Ms. Wylde will do next but one thing is for certain, we are bound to get what we least expect. 😉 Can’t wait.

Thank you Ana!
Looking forward to reading this…thanks Francesca for the review
Hope you enjoy this one Timitra!
Huh, good point about expect the unexpected. I have enjoyed the variety of the multiple ages and the varying personality blends. Devil’s Game reminded me a little of Westside Story with the two younger characters from opposing MCs. Nice insight! I enjoyed this latest pair, too, and can’t wait for Gage’s book.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it and I do enjoy the blending of age groups. I know not everyone is a fan of that. Can’t wait for the next.
Thanks for the review, just finished this book yesterday.
