When rival divorce lawyers Danica and Ezra take the stress of the courtroom and work it out in the bedroom, they discover that all hope is not lost when it comes to love in yet another fantastically steamy contemporary romance from Lana Ferguson.

Ferguson has been an auto-buy author for me since The Fake Mate, and she’s proven with Overruled that she can’t be beat when it comes to her signature blend of spice and humor in both her contemporary and paranormal romances. Ferguson hits readers hard and fast with the spice in this one, making Overruled about as opposite of a slow burn as it can possibly be. I absolutely ate up the chemistry between Dani and Ezra; it was clear from the very first chapter that these two were going to have some epic moments throughout the story, even as Dani swore each time would be their last time (spoiler: it wasn’t).

I’ve never been a huge fan of courtroom dramas, but that didn’t stop me from loving the sizzling antics between our main characters, both in and out of the courtroom. Just like Dani, I would expect a divorce trial to be the last thing to inspire sexy times, but Ferguson may just have me rethinking my reading choices and adding a few romances rife with legalese to my TBR.

Overruled may have all the spice I could’ve asked for and more, but that’s not all there is to this story. Both Ezra and Dani have fully fleshed out character arcs that take readers through the tumultuous pages of their backstories, giving us plenty of reasons to feel deeply for both of the main characters. Dani and Ezra both had their complicated reasons for wanting to win in the courtroom, and I enjoyed every minute of them working through their issues. I was really into Dani and Ezra’s character developments; they both had a lot to reveal as the story progressed, and neither character had as simple of a story as they first appeared to have in the beginning.

Should you read Overruled by Lana Ferguson?

Overruled by Lana Ferguson was yet another hit for me from Lana Ferguson, and ranks as my favorite of her contemporary romances. Ezra and Dani had such good stories to tell, and I truly enjoyed watching their self-discoveries play out on the page. Ferguson delivers yet another perfectly steamy romance that gave sass in the courtroom and spice in the bedroom.
