“I was a bit disappointed.” ~ Under the Covers
Zoe Watson is the town’s gallery owner, and Jason Evans is the town’s Park Ranger. Getting along is not always their strongest suit. They are quite the opposite yet their secret attraction for each other couldn’t be helped. Zoe is friendly and out-going, Jason is not. He is a brood with reasons to back it up with. He is an unhappy divorcee and has mommy issues, to say the least. Unfortunately, his recent accident with lighting and a cute dog kicked start a visit from his overbearing mother. Attempting to get out of that mess, he uses Zoe as an excuse to shoo his mom away. Thier perfect fake relationship did nothing in mom-repelling but mostly did more good to their developing friendship. It was well overdue.
I expected this book to be plenty sweet and fun, and Ms. Castle was good on that. The ending was sweet indeed. But I’m going to be honest and tell you that I was a bit disappointed with the hero. His situation with his mother annoyed me to no end. I feel like, despite his strong, independent, carefree persona, he let his mom and brother step all over him. Thank goodness for Zoe, who is a very strong independent lady who will not take sh*t from anyone. Because of her, Jason will finally stand up for himself.
There was also a change of pace towards the end of the book and when it picked up, it went straight to insta-love. I feel like Jason jumped the gun on his decision at the end. They barely knew each other to make such a decision. It was too fast for my liking. I wanted to like this book as much as I liked the first installment. After meeting him from the previous books, I had certain expectations , unfortunately, he fell a little short.

Ugh I can’t stand when characters let their family walk all over them…I just started a series that has an overbearing sister…I want to stick with it bc I love all the other characters but the sister is really annoying…
That’s what I did here, I stuck with it. I do this especially if it’s an author I follow. I still like the rest of the book. Just need to learn how to over look the ones, I can’t. Thanks for passing by Elizabeth. ~Ang
Thanks for the review Angela
=)
It’s a bummer but I agree with you that one character can ruin a book.
Thank you, Amy. I was bummed because I liked the hero….but man, when the MOM was in the picture. ugh. ~Ang
