“I was expecting much more for Craig but ended up being quite disappointed in his happily ever after.”
~ Under the Covers

ONE KING’S WAY is one of those instances where you need to know when to stop. After the last book in the series, that was supposed to be the end of the series. However, Samantha Young has released this novella featuring Craig, a character that we’ve been before. If I’m going to be totally honest with you, I didn’t like this novella. At all.

Craig is portrayed as the flirt. As a bartender, he gets a lot of attention with the ladies. However, I found that Craig’s attempt at flirting seemed to be shut down by the heroine every single time. So readers don’t get that fun, flirty nature that we’re expecting from Craig.

The real problem in this story is the heroine, Rain. Rain Alexander has a major chip on her shoulder. She has a lot of anger pent up and she wants to channel that into gaining revenge. This entire plot seemed petty and stupid, putting Rain in a very unfavorable light. So much so that I wondered countless times what Craig found appealing about her character. She’s so emotionally manipulative that I lost interest very quickly. Young doesn’t really do anything to redeem her either.

I found that the resolution was swift and not very believable, pushing things to the side rather than really dealing with the problem. I was expecting much more for Craig but ended up being quite disappointed in his happily ever after. I think it’s safe to say that I’ll be skipping on this author’s next releases.
