Kim Law continues her Turtle Island series with a story of love and second chances. This third installment, On The Rocks, will let you experience the character’s emotions as if they were your own. Ms. Law did an awesome job bring an equal amount of humor, heartfelt scenes and even added a little more heat than usual.
Ginger and Carter lived next door to each other and they shared a special friendship when they were kids. Unfortunately, they had completely lost touch until eons later finding themselves back in their hometown getting reacquainted with what they once had.
Ginger now owns her father’s fishing boat company, still single, and very much looking for love in all the wrong places. Carter on the other hand is back in town temporarily to help his sister. He’s hoping he gets over his recent divorce and possibly get his writing mojo back. They’re timing sucked before but as fate would have it, they find what they are looking for in each other.
Both Ginger and Carter’s predicament are all so relatable. No matter how big or small, I love how real their issues are. I especially love Ginger Root. Her plain-jane character is as real as it gets. As well as her dreams, ambitions, and even insecurities. Honestly though, I wasn’t sure how Ms. Law was going to put these two together when they are clearly in different phases of their lives. But she did it and did it in good time. The pace was steady and she put enough heat and tension along with good friendship. She made it work and I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it.
If you like books with small town romance with a second chance theme, I would recommend this author. She’s one of my go-to authors and pretty much a sure bet.
