“Layered with humor and heart, NOW THAT YOU MENTION IT is a perfect blend of every emotion.”
~ Under the Covers

Women’s Fiction is a genre that I can be a little more picky about, so when I picked up this book, I did have some high expectations. I’ve read a lot of Kristan Higgins books before so I kind of had an idea of her writing style and after reading this book from her, I can definitely say that she has a great voice for writing both Women’s Fiction and Romance.

Layered with humor and heart, NOW THAT YOU MENTION IT is a perfect blend of every emotion. When Nora’s life takes a sharp turn, she turns to her hometown of Maine where she hopes to be able to catch her breath. A recent breakup and an injury have made her hands full, but despite the dire circumstances she is put in, Nora always tries to look on the bright side. With Women’s Fiction in particular, I think it’s very important for a reader to connect with the protagonist from the very beginning and I definitely felt that with Nora’s character. She’s sweet and sensitive, but can be quite stern when she needs to be. I really enjoyed her character and her dynamic with others.

Nora’s journey isn’t a lonely one though. She finds herself back with her dysfunctional family and once this part of the story picked up, I knew I was going to love this book. I love reading about family drama and Nora definitely has a lot of issues with hers. But once again, Higgins creates a story that is both entertaining and heartwarming at the same time. I thought she did an amazing job of repairing broken relationships and strengthening them at the same time.

I’m so glad I picked up this book and I will definitely be reading more of Kristan Higgins’s Women’s Fiction books.
