“Joey Hill has written some hot paranormal BDSM ménage in the past, so I know that she has the talent as a writer to pull this off, not to make it cliché.”
~ Under the Covers
Being the die-hard Joey Hill fan that I have been for years, it always excites me when she comes out with something new. Naughty Wishes is a spinoff serial to Naughty Bits, to be released in 4 parts, monthly. Part 1, Body, introduces us to Samantha, Geoff, and Chris, three roommates who have lived under a building sexual tension for years. Samantha moved in with them as protection after an ex college boyfriend turned into a scary stalker, leading to an assault. Years have gone by and neither roommate has ever dated seriously. Samantha has discovered she’s a sexual submissive and with the help of a Domme friend, has gotten advice on how to bring out the Dom she knows is lurking underneath Geoff’s smooth lawyerly exterior. She knows that Chris must be part of the picture as well. Instinct tells her they’ve almost been waiting for the right moment to take her as theirs. But Sam is tired of waiting and takes matters into her own hands when Chris is away on business.
It’s pretty clear that Naughty Wishes is a BDSM ménage, and Body sets up that expectation clearly. Joey Hill has written some hot paranormal BDSM ménage in the past, so I know that she has the talent as a writer to pull this off, not to make it cliché. I will admit that I found their history as roommates a little confusing at the start, why it’s taken SO many years of living together for someone to make a move, but when I put this little plot oddity out of my mind, all was well. Sam is a submissive who knows how to go for what she wants, and Geoff bites her dangling carrot from the get go. Yes, there are some reservations, but Body is a whole lot of very sexy, teasing play between these two. Joey Hill has a talent for writing real and poignant emotions, and we get a hint of the angst to come when Chris comes enters back into the picture. This looks to be a sexy and emotional ride for these three. How Chris will fit into the picture, has role in the relationship, remains to be seen. This ends on the appropriate cliffhanger to make me eager for the next installment.
