Review: My Gift is You by Rachel Lacey

As soon as I saw this novella was announced, I knew I had to put it on my TBR.  I’ve read the complete Risking It All series and this book is tied to that in the way of cameo appearances, although after reading the book I would say it’s a bigger part of the Almost Royal series as the heroine here is the best friend of the heroine of book 1 in that series.  That being said, it can also stand alone and it’ll be the perfect little sampler of Rachel Lacey’s sweet romances.

Mandy and Calvin had one night together during prom where they both decided to lose their virginity to each other.  Then never really talked to each other again.  This is Calvin’s second chance at seeing what could be there with his biggest crush.  He’s a sexy, bearded, kind of mountain man who happens to have a passion for wild animals.  Mandy hits a bird while driving on a snowy Christmas Eve and Calvin comes to the bird’s rescue.  MY GIFT IS YOU was just an uncomplicated and sweet romance.

If you are looking for a short holiday read, definitely check out this one.  While there isn’t much story development that can happen in such a short amount of time, I still liked both of the main characters and found the story perfect for a quick holiday pick me up.  Snowy, small town setting, sweet adorable hero, and a wedding at a real life castle (not theirs, by the way)!  What’s not to enjoy?
