“An exciting ride from beginning to end! Two thumbs up!” ~Under the Covers
I have to start with telling you my frame of mind going into this movie.ย First of all, I was following in my opening night tradition because I’m sad to see the end of the Twilight Era.ย The Twilight books were indirectly what got my love for reading back (I had taken a hiatus for a few years).ย From there, I found the show True Blood and the Sookie Stackhouse books and the rest was history.ย So Twilight holds a special place in my heart.ย But I have lost the fangirl love.ย I thought the movies were just getting more and more lame and I was actually not expecting a lot from this movie.ย However, it was the finale, so I had some hopes it would be good.
And can I just say that I was so pleasantly surprised with how much I liked this movie.ย I was an exciting ride from beginning to end and I definitely give it two thumbs up!ย Wow!ย It was action packed and didn’t deviate into silly stories like they’ve done in the past.ย They put everything they should’ve from the books so that it wouldn’t be boring, leaving out some of the more tedious parts of the book.
All the actors/actresses looked beautiful!ย This is the best they’ve all looked (with the exception of Carlisle and Esme IMO).ย I am sorry that I can’t say the same for their acting skills, although they have improved and I think this might’ve been the best they’ve done.
And whether you’ve read the books or you haven’t, this movie was all about the twist at the end!ย It literally blew my nonexistent socks off.
It was an amazing ending that I think twi-hard fans and people that have liked the books would enjoy alike.ย I think it’s not to be missed.
I totally agree 100% with your review. I, too, love Twilight because it brought me back to reading and reminded me of how enjoyable it can be to escape into a book. I, too, have followed the movies out of love for the series, but not necessarily loved the movies themselves. I always found myself disappointed at the end of each of the movies and wishing they had done things differently. So I went into this movie w/ expectations that it would be the same — a little hokey, poor special effects, etc etc — but going to it all the same. AND WOW WAS I SURPRISED! I was so thrilled with how they handled the material, how the characters looked more real, the improved acting. I just felt they nailed this one from start to finish. What at great note to end on… and that twist ending… holy cow!! I didn’t know whether everyone in the theatre was going to faint or riot. It was outstanding. Two thumbs up agreed!! Can’t wait to see it again.
Exactly what I thought. I think even the special effects were a bit better. But the big thing I think was how they handled the material and of course the awesome twist ;
I’ve read the books several times to discuss them with kids. We’ve seen all the movies so far and will be going to see this one this weekend. Thanks for the honest review.
Awesome Joanne, hope you enjoy it. Glad to hear you are sharing the love for reading with your kids. And that’s a great place to start and hopefully they continue from them.
I thought the same thing about Carlisle. He looked horrible and his hair was hideous. HAHA. I gave it a two thumbs up too. Best movie in the whole series. My coworkers and I are still talking/laughing at how much we enjoyed it.
Did you like the twist to the end? I thought it was awesome and unexpected. I love it though.
I loved the twist at the end. I was calm through everything that was happening because I KNEW they couldn’t do that, but the whole theater was in an uproar!
And yes, Carlisle’s hair and how pale they made him. Just not a good look for him.
I think that I am the only one who hasn’t and probably never will read the books or see the movies. But ironically, my BF loves the movies ๐
Oh Erin why would you never see the movies? I have to say looking back now after so many years, the books are not the best but at the time they had a magic that I think enveloped everyone.
I also agree with you, just saw it this morning with friends. The Twilight series was what got me reading again as well. I saw all the previous movies and thought they were kind of cheesy and BD part 1 was ok, so going into this, we all weren’t expecting much. Have to say we thought it was the best one and was a great close to the whole thing.
I’m glad to know I wasn’t the only one to feel that way! Yes! Great close!
I watched part 1 last week with my sister…looking forward to seeing the twist at the end.
Hope you enjoy it Timitra!!!
Oh!! I haven’t watched it yet. I hope to see it next week. I’m really excited about this, I didn’t loved the last book, so many pages, and no action. Thanks for your review. I can’t wait to see it.
Lissette, I agree about the so many pages and no action. I feel like Part One of the movie suffered a little with the no action parts but this part they picked what to show well. Hope you enjoy it!
I’m a huge Twilight fan. The books are what started me on my reading path. The last movie was WONDERFUL. The best of the movies.
I think it’s amazing that Twilight had such a great impact on people’s reading habits. It’s a great gift.
I haven’t seen it yet, but my daughter has she’s not the biggest fan of the twilight series but has enjoyed the movies, she said it was great & told me we have to go as she want’s to see it again.
I am going today with my gal pals—There is sadness surrounding our movie day. We are one person shy in our group. I can’t believe that our friend, Brenda, is no longer with us. She attended the very first Twilight movie with us, and now it’s been one year since her tragic death.
So sorry to hear that Trish!
GAH! I can’t read anything on this page because I’m afraid of “spoilers” even though I’ve read the books…My sister said their was a “twist” and I need to get out there and see the movie already! I’m so behind on this one…FAIL!
LOL spoiler free no worries. I just said there’s a twist but didn’t tell you what it is. ๐
I read this series before all the movies were finished and I’ve yet to see Breaking Dawn (both parts)…don;t want to really come to the end!
