ARC Review: Midnight Valentine by J.T. Geissinger

A tragic accident had left Megan a widow. Trying to live without the love of her life has been hard, but her goal is to live their dream to open a Bed and Breakfast in a small town. As she follows this dream, she meets the mysterious Theo whom for some odd reason has acted nothing but strange towards her. You see, Theo’s life also changed drastically from a tragic accident, but their similarities of what changed their lives do not end there. They have an unexplainable connection that cannot be denied. One thing is for sure, fate has given them a second chance.

Midnight Valentine had me reeling in excitement with goosebumps and whatthefuckery moments. I could not put this book down. The need to know the whys of it all was at a high up until about sixty-five percent, then you’ll get a sense of what’s going on. Of course, right from the start I was intrigued with Megan, her story, and her strength. Losing a loved one is a reality for all of us in one way or the other and Megan handled each tragedy that came her way like a pro. Yes, it was more than one tragedy. I love the second chance that Megan has taken after her husband passed. Her pursuit of the B&B dream was inspiring. Theo, on the other hand, had it bad, and his situation was so complicated that I can’t even fathom his reality. We do get a glimpse in his head in the Epilogue as we get his POV. I hope Ms. Geissinger thinks about a short story of his POV from the very beginning. There so much there that needs to be told.

Geissinger wrote a story of not only of two people finding their second chance after a tragedy, but a story of unexplainable events that brought two people together. The parallel lives that somehow connect just about blew my mind. I don’t question how realistic this story might be, but I do believe in magic, and I chose to take it as is and revel in their happy ending.

Salute to you, Ms. Geissinger. It was a story well told.
