“I think I overloaded on sweet when I was reading this book”
~ Under the Covers

Clare Franklin has never been lucky in love and on her way to her honeymoon, alone after her fiancรฉe left her for another woman on the day of the wedding, she has decided to give up on it. However, she canโ€™t deny the feelings she is developing for Deacon Montgomery, a man she meets in the resort. But is it just a holiday fling? Or, like her, does he want more? That question seems answered when he suddenly disappears without a word. Deacon is in a panic when he leaves Clare without just a hastily scrawled note left behind reception, one of his twin daughters, daughters he hasn’t told Clare about, has been rushed to the hospital. She never contacts him. But he can’t stop thinking about her, was it just a holiday fling for her? Or, like him, does she want more?

I think I overloaded on sweet when I was reading this book. Not only did I have to contend with a perfect hero who seemed to always know when to say the right thing. There were also adorable twin toddlers. Then adorable twin newborns. Truly, the cuteness was off the charts disgusting. Iโ€™m blaming this book for the pounds I put on that week.

However, as cute as it was I didnโ€™t really find the romance compelling and unfortunately there were parts of the book where I was bored. Clare and Deacon although pleasant characters just werenโ€™t that interesting and after the holiday romance section of the book was over the pace slowed way way down.

There were aspects that I did like, I enjoyed that Deacon was the single parent in this scenario rather than it being the heroine. Thereโ€™s something very attractive about a man who loves his children.

This was an enjoyable book and if you want something super sweet and adorable to read then this is just what the doctor ordered. However, I think Connor has done a much better job with a single parent holiday romance in her book Worth the Wait, which was one of my favourite reads last year.

  1. LOL, yes, it would be great to blame sweet books for the pounds. It sounds cute and I’m a sucker for a holiday romance and single dad so I might have to give it a go. ๐Ÿ™‚
