“Lawbreaker doesn’t fall under the cute and fuzzy romance category. It falls under the witty banter mixed with intense and heavy circumstances that kick you in the gut and make you not only think about the story but about your own life as well.”
~ Under the Covers
Lawbreaker slaps you right in the face with intense emotion and drama! There’s nothing average about this complex love story. Ben and Shay have gone through so much in their lives that it’s no wonder they come across arrogant when they first encounter each other. They are both broken so when they finally seem to put themselves together into the mold of “happiness”, the unthinkable happens and you are left wondering if YOU were in this relationship all along.
At first I couldn’t deal with their anger and stubbornness toward the entire world but it was their coping mechanism in order to not fall apart in this unforgiving world. Ben and Shay are so similar yet come from different sides of the tracks. It wasn’t until Shay actually shared her horrific past that it all came together for me. Their sacrifices for their families and even for their own safety pull at your heart strings and make you wonder how many people out in the world have gone through what they have gone through as well.
