COLLEEN HOOVER
AND GRIFFIN PETERSON!

Welcome to Under the Covers Book Blog! Thanks so much for stopping by! Since itโ€™s your first time visiting for the both of you, could you each tell us three interesting things about yourself that readers wouldnโ€™t know?

Colleen:

  1. Iโ€™m addicted to Diet Pepsi, but Iโ€™m pretty sure everyone knows that by now.
  2. Iโ€™m a very unemotional person, which tends to surprise people because I write such emotional stories.
  3. I seriously hate the sound of ticking clocks.

ย

Griffin:

  1. I canโ€™t stand wearing shorts. Ever.
  2. I rarely do my dishes. I just rinse them and leave them in the sink, certain I will come back later and finish the job, but then I donโ€™t. My roommates still put up with me, though!
  3. I find it extremely difficult to recall my weekend activitiesโ€ฆย on Sundayย lol.

ย

MAYBE SOMEDAY is your next release and one of UTCโ€™s most anticipated books of the year! Colleen, could you tell us about the inspiration of this book and perhaps how Griffin became involved?

There was an overwhelmingly positive response to me including lyrics from The Avett Brothers in my first book,ย Slammed.ย So, I decided it would be fun to actually write new lyrics for a book. Then I thought, why not take it one step further and get someone else to actually write and record the songs? Iโ€™m not a musician, and I knew I liked Griffinโ€™s sound and thought it would be perfect for the book. Thankfully he said yes!

ย

Griffin, Iโ€™ve listened to โ€œIโ€™m In Troubleโ€ and love it! How do you feel this song complements the novel?

Hah, well, I canโ€™t give a very specific answer, because I canโ€™t tell you anything about the book, but it fits the scene itโ€™s in pretty well in my opinion. Iโ€™m really excited for people to actually get to experience the song as theyโ€™re reading the scene.

ย

Colleen, how was the experience of collaborating with Griffin special for you?

Itโ€™s been so amazing. Iโ€™ve asked a lot of him but heโ€™s been so enthusiastic the whole time. There have been times heโ€™s written songs withinย hoursย of me asking for them. It could have been a disaster, but we work really well together and I donโ€™t think this could have gone any more smoothly.

This next question is for the both of you. What was the most magical part of this experience?

Colleen: For me, itโ€™s been listening to a song for the first time when Griffin sends it to me. It always gives me chills, hearing how perfectly it matches the scene it was written for.

ย

Griffin: The whole thing has been incredible. Iโ€™m so grateful to Colleen for allowing me to be a part of this project. Itโ€™s been a blast, and to be honest, the entire thing has been magical! I canโ€™t narrow it down to one thing.

ย

Colleen, Iโ€™ve come to associate your books with gut-wrenching emotion. If you had to give a warning label for MAYBE SOMEDAY, what would it say?

Haha, thatโ€™s hard for me to say. My books donโ€™t make me cry, so Iโ€™m usually a little surprised when I found out how much they make other people cry. I feel like this one is less likely to make people cry than my others have been, but I could be wrong.

ย Now for the fun questions! Describe each other with one word!

Colleen describing Griffin: Humble

Griffin describing Colleen: Generous

ย

Whatโ€™s your favourite lyric from a song?

Colleen: Are you guys tired of hearing this??? โ€œDecide what to be and go be itโ€ by The Avett Brothers from the song Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise.

Griffin: I just canโ€™t pick one. I canโ€™t do it! There are too many good options.

ย

And lastly, if we were unforgivably rude and snatched your IPod, what guilty pleasure song would we find?

Colleen: Love Bug by The Jonas Brothers

Griffin: Woman byย Fridayย by King. Just listen to itโ€ฆ you WILL replay it.

ย

Thank you so much Colleen and Griffin for stopping by!
