Welcome to UTC, Paige! Let’s start by getting to know you a little better.

Who is Paige Tyler?

I’m a USA Today Bestselling Author of sexy, romantic fiction. I written over fifty books in practically every genre of romance, but my favorite is definitely the paranormal/romantic-suspense combo. My very own military hero (also known as my hubby) and I live on the beautiful Florida coast with our adorable fur baby (also known as our dog). I actually graduated with a degree in education, and was well on my way to being a teacher, but ultimately I followed my dreams and gave up teaching to pursue my passion and write books about hunky alpha males and the kickbutt heroines who fall in love with them.

What are five interesting things about yourself that readers wouldn’t know about you?

1. I collect plush animals, Barbie Dolls, and Monster High Dolls. There’s even a room in the house dedicated to my collection.

2. I’m an exercise junkie—Yoga, P90X (1,2,3, and One on One with Tony Horton), Jogging.

3. I’m also a sports junkie and love listening to the Jim Rome Show on the radio.

4. I’m a little bit of a germaphobe. I don’t leave home without Purell.

5. I have two Aragorn standees.

You have a new series called the X-Ops. Why did you decide to write this series?

Well, hubby and I were at the Lori Foster Get Together in 2011, and were talking with some other authors about writing, the e-book market, promo, what New York is looking for, etc. We spent hours talking about making the jump from e-books to New York—something I seriously wanted to do. One of the authors pointed at hubby and suggested that I should be using his military experiences to lend an edge to my books that other writers might not have.

Around this same time, there was a lot of Special Operations stuff going on in the news, and an idea started developing in my head. Wouldn’t it be cool to blend military elements with the paranormal—specifically shifters?

Can you please tell us a little bit about HER PERFECT MATE, the first book in the series?

I’d love to! It all centers around the Department of Covert Operations, a super-secret organization within Homeland Security. They get the job done by pairing the very best soldiers, law enforcement officers, and spies together with shifters—humans that possess special animal attributes in their DNA.

The heroine is a feline shifter named Ivy Halliwell. She gets teamed up with yet another military guy—and she isn’t thrilled. Her previous partners hated her because she was different, and she figures this new guy will be the same. But Captain Landon Donovan is Special Forces, so he’s used to impossible situations and takes them in stride.  He’s also hot and hunky, and smells incredibly delicious.

HER PERFECT MATE is a paranormal shifter story that blends romance, action, suspense, and military elements into one exciting package that will keep you up reading late into the night—I promise.

What intrigued you about the Special Forces enough to make your hero, Landon Donovan, one?

When I came up with the idea for the X-OPS Series, the Navy SEALs were popping up in the news a lot. But with my husband’s army background, I knew that Army Special Forces had been engaged in similar action-packed and heroic work on behalf of the U.S.—they’re just a lot better at making sure people don’t hear about it. And with all the press that the SEALs were getting (gotta love a soaking wet guy in tight swim trunks), I decided it was about time for the Army Special Forces to get a little love (that Army Combat Uniform is sexy as hell too). With that thought in mind, I pulled a Special Forces team into the ultra-secret world of the Department of Covert Ops.

What would you say is your favorite thing about Ivy’s feline side?

I love that she’s sexy and graceful, but can still kick some serious butt!

Did you have any models/celebrities in mind when writing Landon or Ivy’s characters?

Other times, not so much. I think Landon could be played by Jensen Ackles (definitely channeling his Dean Winchester persona from Supernatural) or Chris Evans (from Captain America). For Ivy, I’m thinking Erica Cerra (Jo from Eureka). If not them, then the two models on the book cover. They’re exactly how I picture Ivy and Landon!

If you could collaborate with another author on any project, who would you pick and why?

It would have to be Suzanne Brockmann!  Love her writing and her books, so I think it’d be really fun!

Here’s a fun question: Let’s clear up any misconceptions people might have. What do you think is the biggest myth about being a writer?

That people don’t think it’s hard work, or even a job. Between writing, answering emails, social media, and promotion, I probably work 12 – 14 hours a day. I even take my laptop on vacation. I love it and wouldn’t want to do anything else, but it’s work!

What’s next for Paige Tyler?

Well, HER LONE WOLF, Book Two in the X-OPS Series, releases in November, which I’m really excited about. It’s followed by an X-OPS Novella called HER SECRET AGENT that releases in December. It’s a fun story that gives readers a little extra background on the DCO, as well as the skinny on some very important stuff the characters in the novels aren’t privy to. So, yeah, there are lots of OMG moments ahead for the X-OPS crew.

Right now, I’m working on the outline for the second book in my S.W.A.T. Series, aka my Special Alpha Wolf Team Series. If you haven’t figured it out from the name it’s about a SWAT team made up of wolf shifters. Think hot guys in tactical gear with claws and you get the picture! The first book releases from Sourcebooks in early 2015, so I hope you’ll check it out!
