UNRAVELED is written in first person, so we get to know your charactersโ€™ innermost thoughts. What is it like for you to be in Sam and Grayโ€™s heads?

I love writing in the first person. It’s more immediate and intimate for me and often I feel like I’m watching the characters interact and I’m merely transcribing the scene.

What was something that surprised you about Sam and Grayโ€™s story while you were writing?

How brave Sam was. Going in, I had planned to have Gray draw her out but as the story unspooled, I realized that it made more sense for Sam to be the one to take chances. She had already suffered and survived the worst thing and so every step forward, no matter if it hurt, was something she could handle.

What was the hardest scene in UNRAVELED for you to write?

Definitely the confrontation scene between the villain and Sam.

What was the most fun?

The slip ‘n slide. I love writing the banter between the guys.

Are you writing another Woodlands novel? What can you tell us about it?

Yes I’m writing Finn’s story right now. He’s in love, but he realizes which one almost too late.

  1. It is very interesting that Jen was surprised about the personality trait of a character she created. Do some characters almost develop a life of their own and tell the author the story rather than the author creating it FOR the characters?

  2. I have yet to read a book by Jen so would welcome a win. The book sounds like the kind I enjoy.
    Interesting interview

  3. I loved the first book and have been eager to read the next one. Thanks for the spotlight and giveaway.
