Interview and Giveaway with Elle Kennedy

Elle Kennedy is back with another brand new book in the Out of Uniform series, HOTTER THAN EVER! Welcome to UTC, Elle! Can you please tell us a bit about HOTTER THAN EVER?

Thanks for having me! Hotter Than Ever is book 9 in the OOU series, and let me tell you, I never intended on writing this many titles in the series J This one might be my favorite, though! I fell in love with Dylan Wade in Feeling Hot and I couldn’t wait to give him his own book. And I adored Aidan Rhodes in The Heat Is On, knowing that I would revisit his character eventually, which I finally did.

These two men are off-the-charts hot, so I knew I needed to give them a woman who would challenge them, as well as satisfy their lusty appetites. I think Claire McKinley totally fits that bill. The story revolves around the very unconventional relationship between the three of them.

I have to say that the title matches the book very, very well. It’s a scorcher! The ménage and the man-on-man action are smokin’ hot. Which scenes did you find the most excited to write?

Oh gosh. I loved writing every last scene in this book. I think the most fun was the very first ménage with Dylan, Aidan and Claire. It is probably the hottest ménage I’ve written to date 😉

If you had to create a warning label for this book, what would it be?

Well, I already had to create a warning, actually 😉 And when I sent it to my editor, she laughed and said it was the perfect summary of this book.

Warning: This book is very dirty. Ménage a trois and man-on-man dirty. Graphic-language and explicit-sex dirty. Basically? Dirty. You’ve been warned.

I think writing ménage can be difficult; however, I felt that it worked in this book. Can you take our readers on some of your thought processes as you go into writing a book featuring a threesome?

First off, I love threesome books. With that said, I find a lot of them unrealistic at times. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, seeing as most romances are fantasies and therefore it’s not mandatory for them to be rooted in reality. Yet I’m the kind of reader who’s always looking at the practical aspects, and the type of writer who doesn’t like making life too easy for my characters. So I knew that with this ménage, I wanted to focus on the real-life issues that a threesome might actually face.

Writing this book was tough, but I think I managed to convey the obstacles that a trio might face if they commit to this kind of relationship.

What would you say is the best thing about being an erotic romance author? The worst?

The best part is coming up with new and fun situations, either sexy or humorous (or both), for my characters to experience. The worst part is trying to make each love scene fresh and exciting—because really, how many times can you have people getting jiggy without it coming off as boring? That’s definitely the biggest challenge for me.

If you could read one book again for the first time, which one would it be?

Oh man, I can’t pick one. But gun to my head? I guess any of Iris Johansen’s novels. I remember reading each one for the first time and thinking, wow, this is the best book ever!
