Welcome back, Amanda! Since your last visit here you’ve released BLOODED, FULL BLOODED and HOT BLOODED releases TODAY! What can you tell us about this new release?

HOT BLOODED is full of action and adventure. Jessica is on the journey of her life. She’s trying to get her man back and figure out what she’s capable of as a newly turned wolf. I had a blast writing it. There are twists and as well as some fun new secondary characters (and some unique beasties). Buckle your seatbelt, because the ride is intense.

How would you say Jessica McClain has grown over the series?

Jessica is just beginning her growth, but it’s happening fast. She went from zero to one hundred in FULL BLOODED, becoming the only female werewolf on the planet, and now in HOT BLOODED she’s trying to figure out what to do with that one hundred, LOL. She’ll get there, but it will take time. She’s still thinking like a human, which irritates her supernatural alter ego (and makes for some fun interactions).

What do you think it is about Rourke that makes him desirable to readers and Jessica?

I think Rourke radiates strength and has a quiet kindness you wouldn’t expect, even though he’s supposed to be badass. I think that’s what got Jessica and allowed her to fall for him quickly—that and he’s 6’6” of rockin’ alpha male body, clear eyes and some kickin’ tattoos. Plus he smells really, really good.

We are big fans of Danny and Tyler! Have you ever considered writing a spin off series for a side characters?

Yes! These boys have wound their way into my heart and I can’t imagine not being able to tell their stories. But I have no idea when/if that will come to fruition. I’ll keep you posted.

While writing, do you picture anyone specific as Jessica or Rourke?

No. They are uniquely themselves. It would be too hard for me to pick just one actor or actress to play their roles. I kind of like that they aren’t specific, because that allows the reader to make them whoever they want in their minds.

What would you say is the biggest challenge when writing an Urban Fantasy book and/or series?

How much to reveal and at what point. It’s a constant balancing act to keep the reader interested, but not give too much away too soon.

What is the last awesome book you’ve read?

I actually just read a great biography on Georgette Heyer. I know, that’s fairly boring to someone who loves to read action, but she’s one of my favorite authors of all time. It was so interesting to be able to get a glimpse into her life and learn how she became the Regency Queen. I thoroughly enjoyed it! On my nightstand are Amanda Bonilla, Kristen Callihan and Darynda Jones. Can’t wait to jump in! I may just have to read LOVER AT LAST to see what JR Ward has been up to.

If we were to visit you, where would you take us and what would we do?

Well, you’d have to visit in the spring or summer, because in MN that’s the best time. The first thing I’d do is take you on a walk around one of our beautiful city lakes, we’d lunch at a cute foodie restaurant in a trendy part of town, and then I’d take you to one of our art museums, winding down the night at the Stone Arch Bridge with Minneapolis lit up as a backdrop to a very fun day. Did I entice you to visit? Minneapolis is beautiful.

You’ll be attending RT this year, yay! So we have to ask, what’s your drink of choice?

Most of the time it’s just a beer, but once in a while I go for a martini. If I order one, you know things are about to get interesting.
