You can never really tell what you’re gonna get with a Kristan Higgins book and that is never more true when it comes to a Blue Heron book. For one, you never know what kind of shenanigans the characters will find themselves in next. For example, would I ever think I would read a scene where the heroine loses the thing that makes your boobs look good in a bra (You know, that “chicken cutlet” looking thing?) while getting competitive with her ex? Hell no. But oh my God, Kristan Higgins is a genius for doing it! I have never laughed so hard while reading a book.

IN YOUR DREAMS is (finally!) Jack Holland’s book. As the sexy winemaker of the family, I was looking forward to Jack’s story the most and it ended up being better than what I expected for him! For one, there’s a deeper side to Jack that Higgins delves into. As Higgins shows why and how Jack harbors this guilt he feels concerning this accident and a few injured teenage boys, you really get a more serious side to story that balances it out well. With all the hilarious stuff that happens with Em, it’s nice to have that serious, more heartfelt pieces in the story to make it feel more whole.

Em and Jack get together when Emmaline is invited to her ex’s wedding. It’s quite the sad story because Em is still in love with the “old” version of her ex even though he has turned into a self-absorbed fitness freak. I don’t know why the girl wants to go in the first place, but bless her heart, she endures the torture anyway with the help of Jack as her date.

You can expect a whole lot of laughs and smiles throughout this story. Not only do the past characters come back and create some havoc, but Em and Jack themselves are really endearing characters. I love their upbeat dialogue and the way Higgins was able to slowly build their relationship. It really made for a genuine experience and I totally believed in their romance by the end.

IN YOUR DREAMS is an outrageously funny feel-good story. If you need an immediate pick-me-up, Kristan Higgins is your girl.
