they never fail to charm the pants off me.”

~ Under the Covers

Welcome aboard the space ship Dancing Fool. It contains a small crew of ruthless pirates looking to make their fortune. Well kinda. They’re definitely pirates, however the ruthlessness is a little iffy, especially when faced with a human woman in distress.

Tarek the ships medic is used to women shuddering in revulsion at his ugly face and big bulky body. Cat was abducted and enslaved and is now cut up, bruised, battered and on the brink of dying on a seedy space station corridor. Until she is bought and patched up by a big blue alien with a rough face who tells her she is now free. But Cat isn’t sure she wants to leave her big blue medic with a rough face and a heart of pure gold.

Another Ruby Dixon hit! There’s nothing I love her horned and tailed blue mesakkah aliens. Whether in the Ice Planet Barbarian series – which, although set in the same universe has a completely separate and unrelated story line – or her Corsair series, they never fail to charm the pants off me. Not only because of their gorgeous bodies and big horns, but because they are just so damn adorably sweet.

And Tarek is definitely adorably sweet. His big body and uneven face just conceal the kind hearted and gentle giant he is. As soon as he sees Cat, he just wants to protect her expecting nothing in return. How can a girl not fall in love with that? Cat certainly did. I loved Cat, she was strong with a cheeky sense of humour and completely clueless about that her favourite big blue alien was in love with her.

If you are a Dixon fan already then you will love this book, it’s a great addition to the series and so far my favorite. Tarek and Cat were a fantastic couple, both were playful and protective of one another; a fatal combination. If you’re not a fan that just means you haven’t tried the books yet!
