ARC Review: If You Dare by A.R. Torre

IF YOU DARE is the conclusion to the Deanna Madden saga.  A series I’ve enjoyed reading because it’s one of those that you can’t stop reading where the train-wreck is going.  Deanna Madden is just not right.  She is a bit psychotic and although we haven’t seen her in action much throughout this series, mostly she talks about it, this last installment is the one that hits too close to home for her.

I don’t want to give spoilers, as it is best experienced.  I will say that I doubted and I experienced a lot of “WTF!!!!” during this book.  I kept wondering if the author had really gone there, only to think in the back of my mind that there had to be a twist coming to salvage my faith in this series.

That being said, and although I wish the ending was different, IF YOU DARE stays true to character for Deanna and leaves us with the only possible outcome for her.  This is not a really a romance, so we don’t get an HEA.

I was shocked and shaken and have gone back and forth with my feelings on this installment.  The author really does keep the reader guessing with this one!  It was an enjoyable read and I was really excited to see the full cast of characters intertwined in this one.  Even finally meeting Dr. Derek!  The only thing that kept me from giving this a solid 4 stars was I felt there could’ve been a better wrap up of loose ends for a more satisfying finish.  It was kind of abrupt.

If you’ve been reading this series, this is a must read for the final conclusion.  But I think this series is best enjoyed by readers who don’t necessarily need their HEA.
